What Is Kinesiology?
The term kinesiology is derived from the Greek (kinesis) and means theory of motion.
“Kinesiology” has been officially recognised by the British Parliament and defined as:-
“Kinesiology, literally the study of body movement, encompasses holistic health disciplines which
use gentle manual muscle testing to monitor information about a person’s well-being. It originated
in the 1960’s combining Western techniques with Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional
and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies factors which block the body’s natural healing process.
These dysfunction’s are rectified by attention to reflex and acupressure points, the use of specific
body movements and nutritional support. Kinesiology can relieve pain, stress, muscular and
nervous disorders; detect allergies and nutritional deficiencies; assist with psychological and
learning problems, stimulate energies and release untapped potential.”

Kinesiology draws from diverse sources and is supported by modern research, ancient traditions and natural science, including
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Physics, body electrics
Brain research and cutting edge monitoring device techniques
Through these various influences specific Kinesiology techniques have developed over the years, such as

Kinesiology is firmly rooted in education. By this I mean that learning – learning as a lifelong process – is part and parcel of all Kinesiology techniques.
Kinesiology requires the client to be an active participant in these new learning experiences and processes, ultimately leading to better self-knowledge. It is not about diagnosis, healing and treatment of patients.
‘Learning’ can have different meanings. Apart from learning as a mere acquisition of knowledge (school or academic knowledge) it can also be seen as the experience of
Another physical or psychic state
New and extended mental structures and patterns
A healthy way of living and eating habits
A variety of better balanced emotional patterns, etc.
If we accept that every change in our life challenges our brain with new tasks, we realise that our whole life can be seen as a constant learning process.
The various Kinesiology techniques support this learning process, whereby the responsibility for all learning progress and changes is always taken by the client.
Released from old blockages, energy is released by this process to transform old sabotage program into uninhibited potential.
How does it work?
Muscle Monitoring (Muscle Testing) is a technique commonly applied in Kinesiology. The system of Kinesiology recognises that various stressors cause electromagnetic confusion in the brain and make it switch off specific ‘indicator’ muscles.
This is a normal self-preservation technique that naturally kicks in in case of danger, switching off the muscle to prevent injury. Unfortunately, it does not always release automatically.
The state of indicator muscle tells the kinesiologist about energy blockages or rather about the extent and the kind of stress.
The “Stressors” that cause blockage come from within or from outside the body and can include:
electromagnetic radiation (fluorescent tubes, mobile phone, TV, computer, ...)
biochemic influences (toxins, colouring and preservatives, allergies to inoculations, drugs, nicotine, alcohol, ...)
geopathic influences (water veins, dislocation)
social background, etc
religious and socially-ingrained thinking patterns
genetically caused stress
The stress/energy blockages can be released by using the respective balancing techniques.
By experiencing these balancing techniques, the client is integral to the discovery process, and therefore can internalise the lessons learned and ‘take it in’. This participation ensures that the healing becomes a real part of the client’s life and therefore more effective in the long term.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM KINESIOLOGY BALANCES?
Children and adolescents with:
special learning disabilities
reading and comprehension problems
learning problems (legasthenia), dyslexia, dyscalculia
difficulties paying attention and maintaining concentration
psychosomatic problems (sickness, tension etc)
emotional problems (frustration, listlessness etc)
fear of tests and exams
lack of self-confidence
orthodontic treatment and misalignment of teeth, etc.
who are subject to extreme mental exertion in their work role (executive function, high achievers, self-employed)
who want to increase their efficiency (in all work roles)
who want to learn something new or who have to retrain (languages, computer programs, change of role)
who are exposed to enormous professional and/or personal pressure
who suffer from mental exhaustion in their work (steadily increasing requirements etc)
who have motivational problems or suffer from ‘Burn Out’ syndrome
who are frequently in poor health
with reading, spelling, learning problems (legasthenia)
with psychosomatic problems (sickness, tension, heart and stomach problems etc)
with emotional problems (existential dread, depressions, frustration, conflict situations etc)
with little self-confidence
with weight problems
with social challenges in the family, relationships etc
All Kinesiology Balances cannot be seen as a replacement for a medical or psychotherapeutic treatment. They exclusively serve as an additional support.
Advice for clients: In case of the symptoms mentioned above, first consult your doctor.
